The Romsdal region is one of Norway’s best kept ski-touring gems and you’re unlikely to find anyone who’s heard of it who isn’t Norwegian, meaning that this idyllic ski-touring region can be yours to explore, devoid of crowds.
Ski-touring in the Norwegian Fjords
This pristine area is a paradise of untouched hills and fresh powder. The west coast of Norway is renowned for its heavy snowfall through the winter, and by April there can be more than 3 meters of Snow on the ground, combined with long mild days this is the ideal location and time of year for ski-touring in Norway.
You’ll start each day with a hearty breakfast and your professional guide will go through the days ascent and descent, handpicked based on the days conditions and your group’s ability. You’ll be driven to your start point and then it’s time to skin up and head into the snow-drenched wilds of Norway’s pristine west coast.

Fly to Oslo and transfer by train or connecting flight to the Romsdal region. You’ll be collected from the airport or train station and taken to the lovely Hotel Aak, where you’ll check in a relax for the evening with a chance to get to know your guide and fellow adventurers.
Day 2 – 6
Over the following 5 days you will explore the mountains of the Romsdal region with your qualified guide. Each evening your guide will plan the best routes for you depending on your group’s ability and the weather and snow conditions of the region. A usual day will include skinning to a summit where you can take in spectacular views of the fjords before skiing down around 1000 – 1500m of vertical descent. In the evenings you can relax and enjoy good food and pleasant company as you plan the following day’s routes.
Check out and transfer back to the airport or train station for your return journey.
